Are a pulk and snowshoes needed? Is the trail in flat and how far to the camp from the parking lot is it. Thanks Jim
Snowshoes aren't need to get in, but a pulk definitely helps if you're carrying in firewood and water - otherwise you'll have to make multiple trips. It's about 1-2 miles on a relatively flat path until the very end.
Sounds like there's going to be very little snow this year, which is kind of a bummer.

A pulk isn't needed since it's a short hike in...maybe a little over 1/4 mile....the hike in is basically the road to the campground .....so it's relatively flat and very easy....
As for snowshoes.....you can get into and around camp without them but I like to have them for stomping my hanging area and bushwhacking....
More importantly are boot spikes.....when everyone walks around repeatedly it packs down the snow and gets very very slick.....
I hope that helped answer your questions

Well I'm not ALL knowing , but it felt like not quite a mile in on a packed snow mobile / trek road. Did not need snow shoes on that, but if you step off trail I bottomed out at 4 1/2 feet deep . Borrowed an extra pair (shoes) from a camper. We packed down main trails between the fire pit and our hammocks , so you could walk around somewhat without snow shoes but heed the unpacked stuff.
I honestly don't know the exact distance but it is a short hike non the less....maybe someone the does know the true distance can chime in

What ? 1/4 mile ? I'm a little out of shape and older so it seemed like forever, but it was at night and I sure did sweat a lot pulling a pulk and carrying a backpack.
So I looked back at last years thread and GaryR said it is about 1/2 mile hike in.....sorry for the confusion.
