How to order sub-zero quilts ?

    Howdy,

I'm assuming the answer is pick up the phone, but the question is:

How can one order a quilt that isn't a "standard model" on the webpage?

I'd like to have a -10*F Incubator made, but I'm still deciding on fabrics and color. I'd like a -10 because my troop has a 5* go/no-go decision point on winter camp-outs and I'm a huge proponent of a 10 degree buffer. Unless there were to be a significant price differential I don't think I'd hassle over 5*, so -10* seems to be the next best thing.

    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,

Wouldn't that be plus two ounces? I thought you got 5* per ounce.

I thought I remember Adam saying that the 5 degrees per ounce rule didn't work when referring to temps that were that low. I could be mistaken though. I seem to remember him saying that an extra 4 ounces would be go from -10 to -20. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in, the email has been sent for a custom quilt quote. It's always good to support a fellow Ohioan and his company!

+4 oz! WOW! I have +2 in a burrow and it doesn't feel like it's stuffed with down, but some kind of gel.

Overfilling works to a point, then loft becomes important.
You may need to explore multiple layers. I'd recommend looking at underquilt protectors and extra down blankets/comforters.
In super low temps you may want a peapod encapsulating your normal sleep system.
My lowest temperatures approach negative 30 degrees. Depending on the hike, pulking sleds help you carry more gear than you want to carry on your back.

Adding extra down to a 0° will work to a point, but if you really want a -10° Incubator you need the 5" tall baffles to let that extra down loft. Ive had a 0° with overstuff and now I have a -10°..... The 0° was warm yeah and will go lower than 0° , but how far? My new -10° set is gonna take me to -10° and then some, I'd much rather have them and not have any doubts. My Burrow is a 60" custom short- 19.5 oz of down, and the Bator is a short - 19.3 oz and with the 5" baffle heigh the loft is INSANE! All I did was email Harry and tell him what I was looking for, he helped me with the rest. Price wise, all in the set was $610, not much more than a 0° set w/ overstuff, but I get the extra loft that will take me to -10° and then some. Here's the vid I did https://youtu.be/KKpSycJrpR8 , and some pics. If I were you, and I was not too long ago, I would order the -10° not just an overstuffed 0°. You won't regret it, trust me...... My -10° set is absolutely amazing and I think they literally used ALL the down to make them lol. Email Harry, he will set you up! Let me know if you have any questions about mine!
