    Two underquilts, simultaneously?

Anyone ever used two underquilts together? Thinking of using a 0 degree full length with a 40 degree partial. Any tips? I think I would do the 40 then the 0 on the outside. The low temp is about 12 degrees F. I know that's plenty, just wanna try it out. Thanks all.

Stacking quilts works fine. Might take a little tweaking, but I've had no problems.

Lots of threads on the subject. I get the thinking that the larger quilt covers the smaller one, but then you're left with gaps. Use the full length for what its for, and just make it more efficient by adding the smaller one outside. Be careful of compromising the loft of the zero, though.

Stacked a HG Incubator 20 deg. (next to the hammock) with a HG 40 deg. Phoenix on the outside down to 5 deg. last Jan. in western Mass. Toasty toasty warm. Just added extra cord on the Pheonix so it would not compress the Incubator.

    40 partial closest to hammock
0 degree full length furthest from hammock
Check for gaps and if gaps tighten 0 degree suspension.
If you put 0 degree closest to hammock, you might compress loft of under quilt that is gonna do bulk of work.
Check for gaps and if too hard to get a good seal consider using just 0 degree and using 40 degree as top quilt supplement?

Awesome considerations, thank you . Glad to know that it sounds easily a success.

I personally do the exact opposite - I want the 0* hammock closest to me with no possibility of gaps.

Good point, SilvrSurfr, and make sure 0* is not compressed. Both challenges must be met.
