    600 fp down

So quick question - for making very warm UQ for kids for like car camping where weight may be less of an issue - is using lower fp down merely a matter of weight? I’m assuming so but wanted to be sure it would not have like hard feathers poking fabric etc...

In my experience it means more weight and less compressible. Should work fine for your use. I have a 650 fp jacket and no feathers poke me. I think you get the poking when the fill is 80% down and 20% feathers. Even then, a heavy enough shell material should prevent that.

Thanks - I just want to offer a buddy the options as he is asking that I make his kids an UQ and we are considering all options

It should definitely work, but my guess is that Climashield wouldn't be worse, but cheaper and easier to sew up. With lower fillpower down you need more down, which means you don't save as much as the lower price per ounce suggests.

You know what - I need to do the math on that and see the value

Crude math quickly suggests that I would need 4-5 oz more for an UQ .....so I need to compare - good thinking

I’ve never used CS yet - I want the YQ to be 20 degree rates equivalent

This company on Amazon sells good quality down for cheap no point in skipping, I've used it on three separate quilts, it's good stuff.

By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

I picked up some of their down (they had it discounted in the warehouse) but haven't made anything with it yet.

The word “feather” in it concerns me

So for a typical quilt I may make - it is a 4-5 oz difference

That means based on current prices about a 22 dollar difference give or take.

I pitched this to my friend - he can decide

    Gonna look into CS too
