    Love my Jarbidge

I got to put my new Jarbidge UQ to her first real test last weekend. It got to about 15 degrees by dawn, and I was happy as can be. As a new hammock camper, I love the simplicity and ease of the Jarbidge. Not to mention the fact that it just works really well.

At one point in the night, though, I notices it wasn't staying flush to my shoulders and I had a cold spot in my back. Based on the AHE YouTube instructions, I didn't want to cinch it too tight for fear of creating gaps for air to keep getting through. So, I found the two ends of paracord at each cinch buckle and I tied them together around my hammock just over my head and it worked perfectly! I was immediately warmer.

I was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues or tips to fix this problem.

i will edit these to be in the correct order if it doesn't turn out the way i anticipated:

    IMG_3393.jpg
    ^jarbidge stuff sack

    IMG_3394.jpg
contains 0° regular jarbidge green/black, blue silk/canvas/buckwheat hull pillow w/ lanyard, hammock w/suspension

    IMG_3395.jpg
    ^hammock hung

    IMG_3396.jpg
^(head/foot)end of jarbidge setup: figure 8 knot at end of adj shock cord, pull this knot away from cord lock to adj LENGTH OF HANG (not gathering of end of UQ) this line goes from the cord lock to a bowline connected to the grosgrain loop by a mini S-biner (home depot/lowes key area)

    IMG_3397.jpg
^close up of S-biner connecting grosgrain loop to bowline at end of shock cord

    IMG_3398.jpg
^6" loop (1'ish original length, adjust for your height and hammock length by feel; im 5'7" and my hammock body is 10' w/ %83 SRL) of shock cord wrapped for a klemheist knot built to slide towards the end of the hammock but bind when pulled inwards towards you in the hammock. my fingers point towards the center of the hammock/away from the suspension.

    IMG_3400.jpg
^klemheist 'dressed'; big loop through small loop, ensuring all wraps lay flat with no twists. pull towards my fingers to use slide/grip loop.

    IMG_3401.jpg
^jarbidge ready to hang, suspension unclipped from S-biner, brought behind hammock, laid up over top of ridgeline AND through klemheist (big loop)

    IMG_3402.jpg
^brought over and down to reattach to S-biner on grosgrain loop

    IMG_3403.jpg
^repeat on opposite end, notice the cord lock'd grosgrain loop that can be adjusted is hidden on the opposite side of the hammock. the S-biner does not adjust the UQ in any fashion; just a great connection option that can be changed to fit the user's preferences in whatever fashion on may desire. i made soft shackles out of zing-it once..

    IMG_3404.jpg
^a klemheist in shock cord grips the notoriously slippery dyneema cordage if pulled tight....

    IMG_3405.jpg
^...yet still adjusts fairly easily, even up onto the bury of a spliced locked brummel eye

    IMG_3406.jpg
^what all of this accomplishes is that the angle of hang (hangle, if you will) changes to more envelope the hanger. i am a one man band all day, so i can't get into it and take a pic to show myself cozy and warm in it. if you hang to one end of your hammock more than the other (i.e. high foot end kinda sags you into the head end) this works great to keep the UQ centered over your shoulders and feet. you can tighten the hangle line and/or slide the klemheist back to snug the ends up so that the UQ stays 'stretched' to keep the center from sagging away from your bottom too much. CBS is lame. all shock cord is snipped from the jarbidge's hangle line, so whatever size that stuff was. i believe /: no 1/8th stuff, all smaller.

hope this is all in order only one wasn't right

    Thanks eyebrow guy!
    Looks like a great hangle!

I have yet to venture into any experimentation with a structural ridgeline, however.

the maths for structural ridgelines aren't easy, but google is totally your friend for that: 83 percent of {hammock body} in the search bar yields the right length for the SRL. building locked brummel eyes is a new adventure for certain, but not as daunting as it may seem. 1" taper, 4" bury, 1" loss, 2" for the center of the eye, }{ <-HERE IS FINISHED LENGTH OF SRL mark 2" past that for the base of the eye, mark where you start the bury 6" past that. build one eye first, then measure [desired srl] length, +1" for loss and mark. <-this mark will be center of other eye/finished length of SRL repeat the other measurements for other side, mark, and build. not easy the first time around, but easier thereafter. the klemheist on the ridgeline is the ticket. this klemheist trick will work if you have an adjustable ridgeline as well, and if you do NOT have any ridgeline at all setup, just tie a 6" shock cord loop and lark's head it to your CL on each end and drape your suspension over the hammock through the loops you made. suck up the hangle line and bango, warm.

    more detailed walkthrough than ^...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WW7Qvg3VjI&t=54s

the measurements are the same, and you build one eye and start your measurement for the TOTAL SRL length from the END of the eye, not where the strands split into the eye (base). gotta add the 1" for loss to your total srl length. you loose some length thanks to the strands in the bury not compressing fully due to being filled with the tag and tapered end of the cordage, about 1" for every 4" bury...ish..

My biggest tip for getting a great fit for your underquilt: put the quilt on your hammock the way you think it should be adjusted and lay in the hammock. Then, have a buddy or your wife or whatever walk around and fine tune adjust it. Give feedback while you're laying there. You'll know when everything is sealed up when you feel the heat on your back.

^yes. Another good idea is tonput someone similar in shape into your hammock and then you adjust it accordingly. My lil brother was absolutely useless at adjusting the UQ even with instruction lol
