"...in Florida, she felt air conditioning for the first time, and it was cold and unnatural upon her skin."
Having a CRL came in handy for me last night when an unexpected rain storm came in with some breeze.
It was blowing the ran under one peak of my hex tarp, and getting the end of the hammock damp.
Rather than seeing what would happen if I left things alone - It was nice to be able to shift the entire tarp about 6" to offset the wind and better block the rain.
I have always used a CRL and slid the tarp for a a precise fit. However,I discovered today that I prefer Dutch's Stingers for my HG Winter Palace because I get a much tighter set up.CRL works fine on my Dutch Xenon Hex Tarp.
I like using my Dutch spilced Stingerz SRLs on my HG CF Std tarp, I can make easy adjustments up/down, fore/aft, and then really cinch it down bar taught with minimum fuss (for me). It can get windy in the mountains without warning and it helps to know that tarp isn't going anywhere. For the tieouts I again used Dutch's spliced tarpworms on shock cord so set up is super simple, quick and if I want I can just leave the tarp in the snakeskin and the stakes in the ground (marked by rocks). The shock cord on the tarpworms does help absorb gusts some which probably isn't necessary for CF but I like to think it does. It's not uncommon to have 50-60mph gusts rip off the top of the mountain into the treeline at night (where I usually stay) so I've learned to align my setup feet towards the top of the terrain so gusts can pass through with less stress on the gear. This is well beyond the original Chevy/Ford dilemma, but thought I'd pass it along anyway...sort of a Toyota interjection to the argument
I've just tried Stingerz for the first time today and won't be going back to a CRL any time soon. A quicker, tighter and tangle free set up and just as quick, if not quicker to adjust the tarp position as they are so much easier to use than the Tato connectors I have on my CRL.
I'm a total NB, I'm using a CRL on my Supuerfly. Mostly because of the pole mod reason.
One thing I am curious about is I run my line through the split ring on the tarp. Is there any advantages or disadvantages to this?

I like using the pole mod without the CRL. Leaning on the tarp gives it an extra wide "flat" top. You may lose an inch or two doing that, but maybe not. And there's not really any friction going on there; nothing to snag or wear.
