    Current temps:

    Grayling MI: 25°
    Mesick MI: 27°
    Vanderbilt MI: 27°
    Ludington MI 33°
    Fort Wayne IN: 19°
    Bloomington IN: 19°
    Snowshoe WV: 13°
It's been the same thing here... Every one of those major NE snowstorms missed me to the north. I've had about 3 snowflakes so far and it's only got down to 18° once or twice, Yuck! Normally by now we've had at least 1 really good snowstorm, have seen several nights of single digits and sustained temps below freezing long enough to have bay ice, but not this year! The current pattern doesn't look like it's gonna change soon either : it's going to be 53° on Saturday!

It's been unseasonably warm here in UT as well, hovering around 40F-33F, with lows at 29F. Planning a weekend trip on the 8th, hope that there's some snowfall that weekend. It'll be my first time doing a proper winter campout! The last time I went, 2 years ago this time, it was even warmer, there was barely any snow on the ground! It's just got me in a limbo of longing for summer to start, but still wanting to do some solid, cold weather camping.

Test pack! Heading out here soon. 12" of snow on the ground. Temps 18-35°. Good not great. Out before the summer weather on Sunday.

Looking forward to a trip later in Feb...I'm really confident it will finally be a solid WINTER trip.

Anything is better than our crappy January! Enjoy your weekend popping the cherry on that new hot tent/ultralight stove combo. And be careful with that new chainsaw. We don't want to have to send out a SAR team!

No red snow! Ooh, that'd be an ugly way to go.

Had some ok winter hanging out back of my shop. Below freezing plus one night -9°F. Not too bad. I need to do a little pack hike into our mtn down the road some afternoon to spice things up.

I sliced my thumb open on my ice auger blade once while out on the lake. I was using my buddy's shack too so I made sure to message him about where all the blood was from and that I was fine.

OK guys, if you can travel a bit west for your snow, that should fix you up. This is just the start of their heavy snow season. I just read where one of those atmospheric rivers was about to hit them then after a few days another one. Lots of rain down low, lots of snow higher up. March is their usual month of heaviest snow. None the less, Mt. Baker Ski Resort has " received 285 inches of snowfall during the month of January! That translates to over 23 FEET of snow, and an average of 9.8 inches of snowfall each day." Now, counting the snow melt that has occurred all year, that leaves them with, as of today, a mere 140″ on the ground(snow depth) down low and 176" higher up. With apparently a whole lot more on the way. So if you don't mind a little road trip, maybe that will do Ya? You can even use your pulks!
