Who here is excited about snow camping?

Today was the first day in Northern AZ that felt like winter was finally getting close. It got me super pumped up to do some snow camping. Last year I had so much fun and learned a lot. I spent part of today watching Youtube videos to help refresh my memory on clothing, insulation, etc. One thing I want to learn how to do better is build a fire in the snow. Last year I had two cold nights out because I couldn't find dry material to burn. I've made it my 2018 goal to get good at making fires in the snow.

If you folks are as pumped as I am, I'd love to hear from you.

Well I'm excited but the one day every three years we have to experience this is hard to hit I missed out two years ago as we had a record 7" snow fall and it was so pretty. May have to head to the Smokies to see some white stuff and getting there without a all wheel drive is not easy.

Your beaches are pretty white. I spent a week in Orange Beach in April. That did not suck one bit.

Thanks! Yes we can't complain about our crystal white beaches. Some of the prettiest in the world. Hey I can set my hammock up on the beach and pretend it's snow

    Now your talking!

I enjoy reading or YouTubing about hiking in the snow and looking at fantastic pics, as above. But the experience of it? Requires more stamina and skill than I’ll ever have.

Shug has great YouTube videos of hiking and camping in extreme winter weather and snowy conditions. Don’t recall a special section on campfires in the snow, but I’ll bet he’s talked about it at least some. Maybe a lot.

I'm with you on this one. Being from the south I just can not keep my feet warm when hiking in the snow and I've tried everything from toe warmers to electric socks.

It was white here this morning as we finally had our first frost It hit 32 degrees. Forecast for the next 15 days shows the lowest temp as 43 so it was nice while it lasted. Maybe by January...

I'm more than ready to get out in the white stuff for some quality hang time in the snowy woods. Its always good to to get together with friends and enjoy the moment. This is one of my all time favorite photos that Donk67 took of me up in northern Michigan.
