First attempt at a hammock and tarp!

So, I have officially tested both the hammock and tarp in the wild, and I feel good enough to post the results! Pictures will be in an imgur album link at the bottom.

Many thanks to Jellyfish! I watched your videos over and over. Even created some double-ended color-coded stuff sacks as well. I love them.

    Hammock:

    Material: 1.0 Robic XL
    Length: 11'9"
Suspension: Amsteel continuous loop to 1" web and buckle

    Tarp:

    Material: Membrane SilPoly PU4000
Length: 144" Ridgeline (give or take)
Style: Hex with glued reinforcements, 1" grograin tieoffs

This was my first time sewing, and it was nerve racking. The tarp was a bugger, but it seems to work well enough.

My only suggestion is that you lose the carabiner and just pass the strap thru the loop the biner is attached. Save the weight and works exactly the same. Nice job on the sewing. My machine sucks and anything I’ve tried ended up in a knotty mess!!

My lovely wife was gracious enough to let me use her equipment. She was a bit nervous at first! Haha

I am considering that, but my straps are so long right now (still getting used to tree spacing and eyeballing the correct length) that the biner is very convenient. I think I will ditch it once I get better.

    that looks great!

I'd suggest looking into the location of the carabiner on the tree as it relates to the tag end of the strap. This thread: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...tch-Clip-video

talks about a dutch clip, but the info relates to caribiners as well. As you show it, you've got a lot of stress on the caribiner.
