Question for 2QZQ regarding UQP pad insert option

Morning,

What size pad can fit into your UQP mod? I have a 35 inch wide Thermarest Closed Cell Phone Pad. Will this fit your mod that allows pad inserts?

What length pad will the mod accept? I think the CCF Thermarest is 72 inches.

Lastly, what is the add on cost for the pad insert option? I am thinking of the multicam for a gathered end hammock.

Hi Bob,

There is no specific pad size allowance. There is no pad sleeve. The UQP designed to hold a pad in place is basically the same as the standard UQP. The only difference is the length of the side shock cord channels and a stronger shock cord is used.

The price is the same for the standard, bridge or both to hold a pad in place. Please see options on our website...link below.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a picture or video, showing how the pad and the UQP work together? I am having a hard time visualizing it.

Being as how there is no sleeve for the pad, I am guessing you set up the UQP and then just slip the pad between the UQP and the Hammock? You must have devised some way to keep the pad from slipping out. Am I close?

I have tested the UQP with the pad and they basically turn your hammock into a double layer hammock. The UQP goes under the hammock and then insert the pad between them. The suspension for the UQP is set up much tighter than an UQ to hold the pad a little tighter against the bottom of the hammock.
It is more comfortable than sleep directly on the pad in a single layer, more flexible than a double layer hammock, but also a little more susceptible to drafts if the pad is not tight up against you in the hammock. I still use the UQP as a supplemental over the quilt or for the pad when conditions warrant.

Just to clarify...there is no pad insert...the UQP to hold a pad in place just acts like a full length double layer with shock cords on the sides.
