INTERIOR POLE LENGTH?

Does anyone have an accurate method for determining just how long a pole should be if you want a center interior pole mod?

Ideally the correct length would give a smooth but tight curvature to the tarp, and be held in it's central location using a Prussik knot on the CRL which in this case is obviously under the tarp.

Ideally, a CENTER inside pole mod would be equal to the width of the tarp at that point.* I suppose you could get away with longer by allowing pole to lean to one side or the other and securing it there. You could probably get away with shorter by securing it to both ends of the tarp with a longer line.

*dependant also on what method you secure the pole ends to the tarp.

Just had a center pole mod made for me by 2QZQ. THey give full instructions on the proper length of the interior pole. You set up your tarp as normal, and get it tight. THen assemble the pole to approximate length, mark it, then cut, and reassemble. Measure thrice, cut once, and dont cut it too short. I bought the Carbon fiber poles as they shave about 2 ozs off the weight vs aluminum poles for the center pole mod. For my Mac Cat Ultra, the approximate recommended pole length was 110". I am getting my tarp back from 2QZQ soon, and will post pics once I have it set up, or you can go to 2QZQ's site, and they have photos already on their website for you to see. Good Hanging!
