What is lounge mode and the purpose of ridgeline biners?

So Dutch mentions on the description of his ridgeline biners page, that you can turn your hammock into a lounger by taking the ridgeline off. How exactly do you turn your hammock into a “lounger”? What exactly is lounge mode?

Are there any other benefits to using a biner on your ridgeline? I can think of one, which is you can unclip it to run it through various accessories on the fly. I'm curious if there any other ways to capitalize on having a removable ridgeline?

I love using my hammock in lounge mode. I keep my rig in the top of my pack just so I can set it up for rest and meal breaks instead of carrying a stool

LOL....I either have my ridge line too short, or I'm just so big I sink below it.....well below it.

"Lounge Mode" is what you see many college kids/casual hangers doing - hanging without a ridgeline (to keep it out of your face). In this case, Dutch is talking about disconnecting one end of your ridgeline (using these biners) for when you want to hang without it in your face. I have a dedicated camping hammock with a non-removable RL, and a "lounging" hammock that has a RL with a Dutch RL Biner on one end so I can remove it if I want to.
