Very tragic.
I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

Very very sad.... there is no making sense of things like this. My heart goes out to the family. I wish there was more that could be done to prevent these types of tragedies...

At a loss for words
Truly awful news, I’m hammock camping right now with my 2 sons boy scout troop with both kids and adults hanging. I think we’ll do a quick class in the morning in safety, choosing trees, looking for widow makers, etc...

Great idea. You may consider passing it along the BSA chain o' command since there is a lot of interest in hammocking. Excellent place to start a safety acronym for best safe hanging practices.
Something like:
S is for safety first, Scout out the hidden dangers.
H is for Hammock force multipliers
U is for Understand the dangers: center rotted trees; conks and mushrooms; dead branches; widow makers, and etch
G is for Go to Ground when in doubt.
So what's the best resource (book, video, article, post, etc.) out there that explains this specific topic in depth?
Last fall while Hanging we were in a area where little kids were running around being little kids. A Douglas Fir came down, killed one child and injured the other. The tree appeared healthy, the trees around it appeared healthy. So sad, really no way to protect yourself from something like a healthy appearing tree coming down. The day was a beautiful fall day, clear, a bit crisp, no wind, just a beautiful day and place to let kids be kids.
Wow. Were there ANY contributing factors? Was it being used to hang from or did it just plain fall? If it was hung from, could it have been from shallow suspension? Do you think if you were to have grabbed and tried to shake the tree, it would feel or sound any different? Are there certain weather conditions or scenarios that can sometimes cause healthy trees to fall? Could it have been a popular hanging tree and the accumulation of hangs or something someone did to it that caused it?
I just had this random thought and decided to research it. I was wondering if urine hurts trees. Turns out, it sure does! I, for some reason, have typically chosen to pee near trees. I guess for the “privacy”. Even just on it's roots will be bad for it. Urine can potentially be great fertilizer, but it must be heavily diluted first. I suppose the next step in Leave No Trace for me will be to pee wide out in the open now!
