Think several times before you do this. First of all, it is very unsafe. Many people have already told you this. Candles can very quickly set the hammock material on fire, even if it is super strong. Second, it's not very practical. Candles will constantly go out, and you will have to light them again. Instead, I can recommend something I use myself. The LED flashlight from this site https://www.thegrommet.com/products/...ntern-set-of-2 has served me for many years. It is durable, shines very brightly, and works without recharging for more than twelve hours. I think this is the most practical thing for going out in nature or using the house.

I used a used cooking oil wick lantern but NOT near the tarp or hammock.

When tarp was in porch mode it was great.

The advantage of the oil wick lantern is you can alter a 110gram food can as a pot stand and simmer dehydrated soup mix for 4 hours on 100ml of oil.

It also smells GREAT-fish n chips aroma

I would be concerned about safety, as in caught in a bag during a fire and can't get out, and the nylon now joining your skin in one layer... I would not use propane, or any kind of flame. For light purposes, I know they make battery operated lanterns that could hang from your ridgeline? But again, if allowed to run too long, the risk of it getting hot and catching something on fire also increases the longer that is allowed to run for.

Well then you try 7 months in the bush and see how anything electric fares.

    No walls----nl wall sockets----no power----no recharge!

Jadekayak - progress is being made with portable solar charging units. Nothing big enough to run a hairdryer but they could probably handle smaller units - smartphone, iPad, MSR Bug-be-gone, etc.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
