I got some eight foot 2x2 cedar poles. I was going to use rope to join them, but now I think it will be too floppy. Maybe I could use the rope at the top connection if I had a hinge at the ground. I thought maybe a gate hinge, but I am not sure I could find one small enough to get the fasteners in the 2x2. What have you guys used for the wood versions?
The essential part of me can not be discussed here. Ask me in person.
Originally I used rope lashing, which worked well, but didn't allow me to use the full 8 foot length. I switched to D-Ring tie downs. I found a 4 pack for under 5 bucks at my local Menards. I connected the D-Rings with heavy duty quick links.

I see only upside to soft connectors. The soft shackles here could hardly be simpler: https://www.haengemattenforum.de/for...mock#post47406

I think it will create a lot of freedom. Sometimes you have a fire ring at point “a.”the 2 hammock trees at point “b”.
The wind changes direction and has now gone from blowing “b” to “a” to now “a” to “b”. Now I can just move my hammock. Also means I can’t get closer to fire for warmth and sleep in my hammock in the desert!
I was concerned about set up and take down time. Once figured out, take down is about 4 minutes!
Jacko1066, send me your email address by private message and I will send new photos later this week when using stand.
I have trouble posting photos to this site. Have made several attempts with photos of the stand but only 4 made it into my gallery
