3/4 electrical conduit (EMT) weighs about 7 oz per foot. A stand with 4 pieces 102" long should weigh approximately 15 Lb.

If this is the type of garden stake you're talking about, I've used them for tomatoes. They are really weak and I have bent several just gardening.

I saw those too, and they are too flimsy. They are also only 7' long and maybe 5/8" diameter. Closer would be the 8' Sturdy Stake at Home Depot but even those felt more like they were a plastic coated tube instead of a coated rod.

I'll be picking some up tomorrow and I'll post pictures. I've already taken some pvc 3/4 conduit to make connectors that >hopefully< slide over the ends.

I'll also post those results when I have them.

If this works, I'll probably try to use the conduit to make connectors between shorter sections as well. But that experiment is a ways off.

Any thoughts on breaking down the EMT into 4.25 foot sections for better portability? I've thought about using EMT, but couldn't come up with a simple way to connect them.

Wow. I thought I had read this whole thread! Looks like I completely missed the middle. (The downfall of late night reading.) Thank you!

Tried to read as much of this as I could. I may have missed it. Anyone using this with a amok dramur? My concern is that both ends need to be level. No foot end higher like a ge hammock.

They've said they've tested it with a Draumr. I've not seen a pic of it though

I keep thinking I'll do this as well for mine, but i'm 99% sure I'm just going to build a turtledog with a short ridgepole this week

It’s been tested by PharmGeek. You suspend left/right, not head/foot. The left/right hang points need to be asymmetric unless you use a counterweight or guy both ends.

I think what he's saying is that with the draumr you have to pretty much center the hammock on the suspension, you can't force the weight to one side like you can a gathered end on this stand
