I speculate that the optimum angle for the poles is 30° to the ground, just like a tree suspended hammock. This would naturally produce the equivalent of a theoretical 83% ridgeline length.
If true, dialing in the length of hammock to length of pole ratio would consist of changing it until 30° is achieved.

Yes but what pole length does that counsel for an 18" seat height (V not catenary droop) for an x long hammock with a few inches for suspension either side when the poles are splayed just wide enough to clear shoulders and feet of a 6'4" hammock occupant laying diagonal with a bit of sway allowance? See... needs math model unless you want to dink your way empirically through every case. I'm not good at same. Concepts and dinking yes, crystalline calculation not.

Can't you adjust the height by widening or shortening the strap between the fulcrum pivots?

That would come into play as well.

Yes. But in trying to determine the optimum (=shortest necessary) pole length for a given hammock it's useful to lock down as many other parameters as feasible. Higher seat heights mean higher falls in failure case. So just long enough to support 18" butt works for me.

Considering my likelihood of falling, I approve this approach.

This is why I was thinking that you needed field testers. I’d be happy to be the 5’6” in an 11’ gathered end field tester.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

I will have beta testers, but not before I have something that seems at least close to dialed in, can acquire those materials in batches, and determine what needs testing most, etc. Beta testers will help find non-obvious problems of specific sets of materials that I provide, as compensation for helping me develop into a product. Until then this is people banging together their own materials and sharing photos and notes etc. in the DIY realm, all good.

This is so simple it's elegant Latherdome. A telescoping version might/ would allow for use with multiple length hammocks without the need for any suspension at all. Just set the leg length and hang. excellent.

The 2x2"s are plenty strong for my perfectly honed 215lb hunk of hammock-snoozing muscle!
As to the angle, I was erring on the side of safety. Where the hammock lies is a function of the suspension lengths.
With the 120" poles it would be easy to hang a hammock up to 12' in length (mine is 11').

I did a few screen grabs to work out workable lengths, before I went shopping for 2x2"s,

Here is a bit of video of the stand in action,
