I like it a lot but how long of a hammock can I use with it? 10' 11' 12'??? Looking forward to seeing more about it like price, weight in the new material.. etc...etc.

Very interesting, would like to see how it works with a tarp also

I like it. I've been thinking about a "portible" stand (other than my two conduit turtle dog stands) but it would need to be able to fit on my motorcycle. Looks like this might be the one.
DETAILS!
If this isn't going to be a DIY or similar I'm also going to need to know pricing.
I sleep in a hammock at home full-time. So when we travel (in-laws, vacation, etc.) I have to sleep in a bed. I've looked at stands but the size, both assembled and disassembled, have put me off. I can see this in a hotel room and the mother-in-laws spare bedroom very easily. If and when you get to a production model or kick starter, I'll be in that line. It's very intuitive in design. Nicely done.

Looks like a great solution for desert camping, with or without a vehicle. Joshua Tree National Park, for example, specifically states hammocks cannot be attached to any vegetation and to attach to rocks/boulders using climbing anchors. This appears simpler. Echo the rainfly and hammock length questions.
Very impressive

Has the line to purchase been started? If so, that's where you'll find me...

It's quite stable loaded. You can always stake the other end if you like: it just isn't necessary. Since the staking is only managing balance, not bearing the hammock load, it can also just be tied to a rock or something: small forces.
Yes, my motivation has been to push portable into the ultralight backpacker/bikepacker zone, not just the truck bed... And still be free standing or as near as I can get it. I own the very light stand that requires 12 strong ground stakes that work only in a narrow range of soil conditions. Not gonna cut it in a motel room!

Well, since your upper body is a good deal heavier than lower, as long as your head is toward the lowered end it's hard to upset. You can hang a pack on the head apex if you want to stabilize further, or even guy it. I was thinking of hamming it up for video by donning some clown shoes stashed in the hammock and deliberately sitting on the foot-end side of the base strap, which would cause it to tip, and my clown shoes to go straight up as my butt plummeted to the ground.
I'm focused first on the lightest most compact version that can reliably support say 400lbs in an 11' hammock (and tarp). At this point I don't know what that has to cost. My prototype is (was) far stronger than necessary but also heavier than necessary and also too expensive. Meanwhile my first shot with stout but cheapish aluminum tent poles: not strong enough. I'll keep iterating until I find what works and hope it isn't too expensive.
Meanwhile it should be quite easy to make in cheap heavy materials if portability is less a concern.
