I like the size of this new version. I have the older one and am very happy with it. I am a reformed flashaholic from Candle Power Forums and have a ton of CR123 batteries so the older one is great because it takes either 1 CR123 or 2 AA’s.

BTW, CPF It’s like HF, you end up with multiple lights you don’t really need but want. I’m also reformed from Blade Forums and ....never mind lol.

I hear you Bubba. Over 50 high powerful flashlights, most modded by Vinh Nguyen. Sometimes I bring one on group outings and literally turn night into day. LOL
And yeah, let's not talk about Blade Forums.

Goal Zero has had this for a while if what you are saying is what I am thinking. I really like the AA platform but in a USB housing.

Nitecore LA10 is pretty handy too...slightly larger than a chap stick, white section sucks back into the body, adjustable light intensity + strobe, single AA, hole for loop, magnetic base & waterproof.

Looks like that would work well enough, but I'm being picky here because I insist on one-handed operation and a level hang. The LA10 looks like it hangs on a corner. Finally, I like being able to place it on a table for social gatherings. A tube design would knock over too easily IMO.

Nitecore also makes a LR30 that's very similar to the Fenix CL20R, except it uses swappable batteries. Very nice, but it also hangs on a corner. I suppose you could modify it somehow to get a level hang, but Fenix is better in a few ways still, so I still like it best.
