PA> FALL MAHHA - Pine Grove Furnace State Park State Park > Oct. 13, 14, 15, 2017 Trip Report

Hi all! We had a great time, as usual. This was my wife’s first MAHHA, and she LOVED it! She will be there with me in the Spring.

I made a mistake using my tree straps. I was adjusting my set up, and I didn’t check to make sure I was hanging on my knot. I was hanging on my aluminum toggle. SNAP!

Always make sure you’re on your knot, not the toggle, when using a marlin spike hitch!
I found these tree straps in Group Site B. Send me PM if they are yours.

I'm soooo jealous that everyone had so much fun and I couldn't make it! Of course I had a great time watching my 5yo daughter cheer , but part of me wanted to be there so bad! Lol. Glad everyone had such a great time, I know I did at my first MAHHA. Hope I see some of my friends at the NOVA hang next month. Can't wait to see everyone again and finally hang in some cool fall temps.

I have used climbing rated carabiners as toggle for marlin spike hitch--and can clip whoopie sling into carabiner and it does not fall off or shake loose in wind. And the carabiner won't snap like arrow section.
It possible, though not likely, carabiner could get twisted around and whoopie place weight on carabiner gate--with possible fall fail.

Definitely glad I came out to this! Had a great time at my first group hang, met some great people and learned more than I was expecting. Got to sleep in my Chameleon for the first time and slept great all night long. Met a lot of great folks, heard more forum names than I can remember, so I apologize in advance for not mentioning everyone! Special thanks to Yojimbo for sort of taking me under his wing Saturday and pointing out some improvements to my rig and correcting a few errors on my part. Can't wait for the spring!

I had a great time. Glad to see so many of the same people from last year as well as a few new ones.

I really enjoyed my first group Hang event. Had some great food, learned some new tricks, and most importantly met some outstanding people.

Looking forward to getting to know more of you through the years.

This was my first MAHHA but will not be my last. Great job to the folks that organized the event, everything flowed smoothly. I did not write down all the small businesses that donated gifts for the raffle but I want each of you to know that I appreciated your donations. Those donations made the event even more memorable. I understand the struggles of owning a small business , I have a close friend that owns a small business and there is times that after he pays his employees and buy the items to operate the business he doesn't have enough money to pay himself, so much thanks to each of you.

Hope to see you all in the Spring

I had a great time. Came early on Thursday, and despite the constant drizzle for two days, it was still better than being at work!
