    Hi from the german Alps!

Finally found some time to introduce myself. Based in Munich at the foot of the Alps I´ve been lurking around here at HF for a while now.
Started hammock camping earlier this year after years on the ground. Still pretty excited about everything! But i can tell already that i never slept better out in the woods than in a hammock.
I recently got a 12ft Streamliner from Jared which i really like and have a Raven and a Sparrow in the line. You see I just love testing new gear to finally get what fits me best.

I´m usually doing overnighters and 2 day trips alone or with my brother.

Aynway, just wanted to say hi and that I´m glad to get so much information from you guys!

Welcome to the forums. Germany is on my short list of places to visit (family emigrated from the Zweibrucken area and Schwartzwald). Glad to see there are hammock friendly places. Fill us in on your adventures.

Herzliche Gruße aus Washington State, USA. I haven't hiked the Bavarian Alps around Garmisch-Partenkirchen in nearly 20 years, but Munich will always be one of my very favorite European cities. Welcome to HF.

Herzlich Wilkommen zu unsere Hammock Familie! Once you go Hammock, you won't ever want to ground camp again, unless there are no trees. Also not a good idea to hammock camp if the tree you are attached to is the tallest tree around, and you are in a thunderstorm! I envy the fact that you are in some of the most gorgeous hiking terrain in the world...the central European Alps. I loved visiting GAP, and the Zugspitze a few years ago. Stay calm and hike on!

My German is too rusty (and terrible) so Welcome from New England!
In the 1990's I spent several weeks hiking across Germany, Austria and Switzerland with a backpack and tent, taking trains and visiting many small towns. Hopefully I can visit again, with a hammock this time. If/When I do, maybe I can ask for suggestions for some great hanging spots!

    Cheers!
