Maybe they are using the handle bars as a means of getting in and out of hammock.Too flat a suspension angle,hope they dont weigh much.

That's my thought as well. Looks like they have it strung a bit to tight and the grab handles are there to help them pull up out of the banana coffin.

Now you need to go ask the neighbor as I'm not going to be able to concentrate till I know. That's a lot of handles to grab.
