    keeping the feet warm?

Son and I have UQs, mine is almost full length, his is a solid 3/4 length.
even with a full length, when I am sprawled out on the diagonal, my feet our up/over in the "box" where the UQ does not cover.
I have 2 "Costco" TQ with the ends folded and sewn as foot boxes, but they just compress under the weight of my feet and leave my pigs cold.

How doe others deal with keeping the feet warm when it gets below 40??

Use a pad if you must. Personally, I never use a pad. I've got the right quilts for the job (40*, 20* and 0*), so I can avoid pads.

put a section of CCF foam under your feet. As long as your socks aren't too tight you should be good to go. Oh, and watch out for compressing your TQ w/your toes, etc.

I use a ccf pad inside the footbox of my top quilt. My underquilts are 3/4 length.

+1. Pads are a pain. Get the correctly rated quilts for the temps you will hang in and you'll be warm and enjoy the trip.

    keeping the feet warm?

I have a plan to make a pair of booties that will cover both feet, come up to my knees, creating the warm luxury of a mermaid tail. This is still in the planning stage for this winter, as I also get cold feet.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I can't stand wearing socks when I sleep, but the thought of a loose fitting, closed bottom "skirt" would help warm your feet by using the heat from your legs.

This is why I'm not a fan wearing layers under your quilt. It's actually inefficient because most of your heat is radiates by your torso. When you layer up with long johns or base layers, you're sequestering that heat instead of letting it circulate.

I just throw my jacket / coat down where my feet will be and rest them on top. The toes stay toasty.
