Thumbs up Gear Talk: Pet Palace - Cave Creek Hammocks (VIDEO REVIEW)

I'd like to offer my thoughts and impressions on the Pet Palace by Cave Creek Hammocks. For anybody who hikes and hammock camps with a dog this may be of interest to you. I have posted a YouTube video showing it set up and offer my thoughts on the product.

That's a great piece of gear for dog lovers, and is on my wish list for sure. Your dog certainly looked content with the setup! Thanks for the review and lookee-see!

    Very cool idea and setup.
When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".

Thanks ApeHanger! Really appreciate the post and video. Glad you are finding the Pet Palace useful. Looks like your pup enjoys it in there.

Looks pretty sweet. How much does it weigh and how small does it pack down. Maybe have the pooch carry it?

I believe he says in the video that it weighs 20 oz. and is pretty bulky.

    Great video, Apehanger!!

Standard weight, in stuffsack is 23 ounces. ApeHanger asked for .67 netting instead of .9, so it came in at 20 oz.
Here is a photo of one in its stuffsack on my cutting mat, for size reference. For another reference point it is roughly the size of a 32 ounce Hydroflask, when packed in stuffsack.

    Thanks!!

I wouldn't say its that bulky. Its a bit bigger than a Nalgene bottle if I had to guess a size. It will fit into the dog pack but it tends to make one side of the pack larger than the other side and as a result it can be tough to balance the weight between the sides of the pack. I just find it easier to put it into my pack and place other smaller items of mine into the dogs pack to make up the weight. My dogs pack is usually around 5lbs for a 2-3 day trip, which is roughly 10% of her weight. The majority of the pack weight is her food.

Great review and nice camp layout. I'm certain that I'm going to pick up one of these based on your review. One comment, if you diligently hang your food, dog food, and toiletries the chances of having your gear investigated by rodents...or larger and fatter species is greatly reduced.

Looks very cool. I'm think the A-frame could make it useful as a net-tent as well.

If you get the End Panel Zip mod, does that mean you get the two entrances (one on the lone side and one on the (short side) end panel)? Or is it an "either or", only one entrance - the one on the end panel?

I don't see an mod option to have panel pulls on both sides.

Where do the additional floor tie-outs (mod) go? In the center of the long edge?

I think gram pinchers would like the 0.67 netting option.
