I'm actually more interested in the tarp than the hammock. I thought the snap-in triangle was a pretty smooth way to mimic doors if needed.
As your post and video stated, this was more of a "first look" than a "review, and for that format your vid was fine, although as others mentioned you did tend to ramble a couple of times. Don't feel bad. I'm really bad at getting off track as well =) Thanks for sharing the info with us!
Thanks for the response too. I've always wondered that about a peapod-style system, which I didn't realize was built into the hammock until you demo'd it!
That blue is a great color. It compliments the design 👌🏼
Thanks Danny....been looking at your system through fb and was impressed! I REALLY like this type of UQ (sorry for the thread revival..was googling and here I am).
I started hammock camping 2 years ago, then wanted to get into DIY...I really never cared "as much" for the traditional UQ's at that point...I had read through many old old posts on this site...just jeff's blog and his "insulated hammock" was my first learning of the notion of an "insulated hammock" or "integrated insulation" or whatever you call them...
Just Jeffs sewed his direct to the load bearing hammock...that has concerns for failure....other cottage vendors and DIY'ers since made instead a sort of 2nd hammock that is not load bearing, but suspends tight but with give in it...sheltowee, bonefire gear, warbonnett all have similar systems on the market...I like them all...unfortunately I have not been able to try them all.....your variant is really awesome...I made one much like it last year for my wife...yours is purtier!! she loves that thing....no matter how she tosses and turns she is insulated without question period...
I hope you will offer up a detaching UQ version as the underquilt portion would be perfectly modular for those of us that own all sorts of hammocks, tarps, quilts, etc already
That would arguably expand your market? (im no expert there).
Is the 2nd hammock quilt portion sewn onto your load bearing hammock? in that sense is it partially load bearing? like a traditional double layer hammock, but the 2nd layer is the quilt inner shell? If so, is there any concerns for a failure of the insulated layer with that?
Strong work....youll stay warm in toasty up there in the north with that for sure.
Also make it 11 feet...so many of us are spoiled on 11 feet...my lounging hammock for the park is 11.5

I've always wondered why uq's didn't have a wind resistant outer cover. I have a wind breaker jacket that is great and the material is very light. With down underquilts, wind will steel the warmth from them. Now I would be very interested in an uq that also prevents the wind from taking the heat away.
