UGQ Penny Pincher Winter Dream vs Winter Dream

I am strongly looking at the Penny Pincher Winter Dream 11’ and I can get it with the snaps and stuff sack for $110, but no option for pull outs. I can get the regular Winter Dream (comes with snaps), with stuff sack and add pullouts ($20) for $155. As far as the other customization options, that is cool, but as you can see, I’m cheap.

Is it worth the $45 for the pullouts? If it was just $20, I would just do it, but in this case, it is 40% more.

for the extra space under the hammock. Totally worth it. I receive my WD12 a few weeks ago and having all the additional space is awesome. My next WD will be for my wife or one of my daughters. They are tiny things, so I will go the cheaper route for them. But i'm a big guy (no not tall.... ) and i like having it away from hammock.
When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".

Thanks for your answer. I was debating between the 11 and 12. I have 9.5’ ridge line and I have heard that the 11’ is plenty long and at times, the 12’ can actually be a little too long. What is your take?

I like having the extra length, i have 11ft hammock. and i like having the extra space. However i also have the DD 4x4 Tarp which is 4 meters by 4 meters. Its HUGE but i use it to hang 2 hammocks under it.

This is my first WD and have only used it in back yard. Its first official hang from trees will be next week and can give you a complete review. However i have it on good authority that the 11ft WD with a 11ft hammock works just fine. See Shug's tarp video.

The 12' pretty much guarantees you stay dry and have a bit of wiggle room when it gets truly narsty...

Isn't DIY an option when it comes to adding pullouts? For $45, if I was hesitant, I'd wait and do it myself if I thought it really needed doing.

Also, there's the rock/marble guy line trick. Something something, take a marble and place on the inside of tarp, gather material around marble and loop a guyout to it. Stake it down.

I was checking out the penny pincher tarps too. I have pull outs on my current tarp, but never use them. I don't even carry guylines for them anymore. It's a nice option to have, but in my opinion not a make or break requirement.

I would get the pull outs. First off, they are a pain to do yourself and I know because I made a DIY tarp, and mine will have to be sealed so they do not leak (I probably over sewed them). Second, if the wind is blowing hard against the side of your tarp, you can tie the pull outs to stakes or trees and branches and it keeps the tarp from blowing into your hammock, which is very annoying. I suppose you can tighten your tarp so it does not blow in, but I personally would never pull my tarp that tight in high winds.
