So I camp at this place a lot. It’s my favorite spot. I’ve never been to a group hang so I’m very excited. But the rangers can be jerks at times. At least the younger guys with a lot to prove. Do they not give us a hard time for more then two peoples hammocks in a site?

They mostly leave us alone. We respect the rules and as pointed out before we leave the camp cleaner than it was when we get there. So if when you are finished breaking down on Sunday if you all could police your area it would be a great help. I'm going to head to the ranger station this Saturday to talk to them. I'll find out if there is any cleanup that needs to be done in the area.

Looking at the extended forecast, it's going to be one of our warmer years. Not the warmest but let's hope for a cold snap next week.

The Atsion Ranger Station may no longer have rangers, but there's not much they can do to get people to stop calling it a ranger station. They've corrected me on more than one occasion, but people know it as the Atsion Ranger Station and will probably keep calling it that. Heck, you can even look up "Atsion Ranger Station" on Google Maps!

Technically the Atsion location was a ranger station as of a few years ago. However when they made the change to hand over the policing of the state parks to the NJ Park Police, a branch of the NJ State Police (that was at least 6 or 7 years ago at this point), then there ceased to be 'rangers' as it were, so they stopped calling it Atsion station and refer to it as the Atsion office. The Batsto location is technically the Batsto Visitors Center, for what it's worth.

TL;DR - NJ no longer has park rangers, so technically there are no longer any ranger stations.

We have Rangers, there are 2 types; Cultural/Interpretive and we have Enforcement/State Park Police which are defacto State Police now. (Ask any longtime trooper how much they like that).

The local Ranger(s) work out of Batsto but are around Atsion during the summer.

State Park Police have tried to enfoce the quiet hour rule without realizing we were a single group. We just need to let them know we are together.
