Took a morning siesta while I tested a pair of straps from Harbor Freight (Item 47759, $6.49 for a pair of 12' straps with cam buckles. 400lbs working, 1200lbs breaking strength).
I know that cam buckles can be less than optimal - but thought it might be easier for my son to adjust over a Marlin Spike Hitch.
(And at the price, not too big a deal to replace the straps if they show wear)

I also made a pair of whoopie slings out of some 1/8" amsteel. Hopefully I'll get to test those out soon - likely Monday.

BIG DAY for my hammock setup. My modified HH Explorer came back from 2Q2Z with mod #4 completed... wow, does Donna do some quality work. A peak bag and ridgeline organizer were also in the box.

I picked up my SnugPak UQ from the alterations shop. I had end channels added for lengths of shock cord.

Lastly, I ordered a two-pack of CDTs in grey. I've been waiting for some color other than plum, or whatever, to become available on the Costco website. I'm planning to add KAM snaps to one of them and use it to supplement the SnugPak.

If I can find a few last pieces of hardware, I might try the setup overnight tonight outside of my apartment.

Wasn't today but yesterday I made a new double ended stuff sack. My first one was too small, wouldn't fit my hammock and my bug net. My new one is really too big, but will work just fine.

While pre-packing today for an upcoming hang, I noticed a small stuff-sack left over. "I wonder what that's for?" - as I stared over at my WBBB XLC. There was a bright flash, but no smoke, as I finally realized where the top cover should be stored when not in use. Up until that moment, the top cover had just sort of drifted homelessly around my storage room and carry bags. Not any more.
The game is the best teacher.

A couple of days ago I moved out of the travel trailer and into the place I am putting together as a home now that my wife has passed on. The hammocktent 90 degree has become my bed for a while, and maybe for good. Dang, this is one comfortable hammock. Belle the border collie much prefers the place over the travel trailer too. Building the place really put a serious dent into backpacking trips we would have normally made this summer.
