Thats a big pig The Raccoons will be eating well. If they would put a garbage lid top on that can I think it wouldn't be so bad.

Still trying to figure out what I will bring.

Alright! The link to the spreadsheet is posted below.

    PLEASE READ THIS FIRST:

    1. Donations will be accepted toward expensive items. (suggested donation is around $10 depending on how many show up.)
    2. Please bring either firewood, a side to share or both.
    3. If you are bringing any pig stuffing materials, you have to be there early Saturday morning or earlier.
    4. Make sure you fill out the spreadsheet so we can keep things organized. If you can't, have someone else do it for you.

AND NOW... THE PIG ROAST SPREADSHEET LINK

I paddle there often. I signed up on the 'sign in' sheet, I'll post for sure later next week. Do you hang at the McKinley Woods access or the Aux Sable access?

We park at Channahon State Park and hike 3.2 miles which leaves us just beyond McKinley Woods. If you wanted to drop off heavy items (if you are not boating) you can park at McKinley, head down the trail, take a right on the I&M trail after crossing the bridge, and the campground will be on your left in a few hundred yards.

If you go to https://www.bing.com/maps/ and paste the following numbers ( 41.385854 -88.24565 ) into the search bar you will get a map with the location marked. In the upper right corner of the window it can be changed to birds eye and you can see people standing on the boat ramp. When paddling in look for the marina on the other side of the river. It is a nice paddle down there but the paddle back up the DuPage has a couple of challenges. I usually get out 200 yards short of the dam. I can then go get my car and move it closer. If the water is very low it is easier to transfer over to the canal and go up it.

I see, I've paddled from Channahon often. I've just never seen the path to the campsite because it's probably fairly well hidden from the canal. I'm guessing there is no overnight parking at the McKinley Woods landing parking area's. I would think you'd have to park at the State Park at at confluence of the canal & Des Plaines/DuPage, thus the 3 mile hike to the campsite. I can easily get all my gear in my canoe. If overnight parking is allowed at the park, I would do that and paddle down to the campsite. Do you need to get a site at the state park to park overnight or is your site park of the state park. Does that work?

I may drive over tommorrow [10/15/17] to look around and scout a possible portage from the Dupage above the dam to the canal. I think it's fairly straight forward, just want to double check. I would rather paddle down the canal, if not clogged up, than paddle down the Des Plaines.

Report: Wow, the DuPage and Des Plaines 'real' high and fast, most river gauges reflect 2'-4' above flood stage. I&M Canal at max, but easily paddle able. Very nice site(s) off the I&M trail. Located several takeouts along path for my canoe. My portage idea around DuPage river dam will work, even with lower water, otherwise will carry across dam and put in by canal gate, no problem.

Looking forward to this. I did take some photos if anyone is interested
