    Need recommendations for VA hike

So it looks like I will get the chance to drive from Roanoke VA to Chicago sometime in the next few weeks.
Can anyone suggest a good day hike/overnighter around the Blacksburg-Perisburg area?
This 60ish, paunchy flatlander with iffy knees needs a reasonbly doable trail and some hanging areas.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Might check out Grayson Highlands State Park. A bit out of the way, but not serious elevation changes.

You could do an out-and-back hike of McAfee Knob and Tinker Cliffs.

One of my favorite hikes near Pearisburg is hiking up to the Rice Fields shelter on the AT. It's a little over 7mi from the Giles Farm Co-op parking lot (they let hikers park there). Rice fields is a beautiful bald overlooking WV. There are plenty of trees to hang from, of course.

    Thanks! These both sound great.
I get so few chances to hike in any hills.
I am excited for the chance coming soon!

I went to Grayson highlands and hiked the VA triple crown (dragon's tooth, Macafee Knob and tinker's cliff) this summer and I highly recommend Grayson Highlands very beautiful park. I would have been happy to have just stayed at Grayson all week instead of going doing the hike from catawba to daleville and the hike to macafee knob is a climb.

+1 for Grayson Highlands. Of course there are plenty of little trails through the park if you wanted a flexibility. Very nice campground and a beautiful park.

    Things changed.
No time to hike as I have to fly in/out.
    Gotta take care of biz!
Maybe I will get out next spring.
    Thanks again to everyone.
