Took a short overnighter on the Superior Hiking trail to check out a cluster of campsites near Grand Marais with a group of friends and family mid September. Unfortunately we picked a weekend that had rain in the forecast. We planned for the rain, didn't expect the 100% humidity though when it was not raining. Muggy!
The leaves are just starting to turn which makes the hike extremely pretty. With the humidity we also got the strong aroma of cedar and pine. We all agreed it was one of the better hikes we had been on just because of the strong smell. The trail was popular with sight seeing and a few hikers passed by us. You can tell it is the beginning of fall because there are so many visitors to the North Shore this time of year. It makes getting out there in the woods a little more difficult, but it the north shore in the fall is so beautiful.
