I like the idea of having an integrated bug net. One video I watched said that the bug net that came equipped with the hammock wasn't detachable, but could be pulled to the side or the end. I have not looked at any Dutchware hammocks--thanks for the tip!

I will also take heed of your warning about the deck. We just had our deck redone, and if I decided to destroy it with two months of use, my husband will come unhinged.

Where do you hang in the Fargo area?

    Thanks again for your advice!

Wow! I watched one of your YouTube videos just last night! I felt so sorry for you. It was the video where you were attacked my seed ticks. Aside from 'tick-empathy,' I really enjoyed your work and will most likely subscribe. I'm definitely in need to good, practical information on this topic.

I had to laugh when I saw the name you use. My husband isn't exactly an outdoors man, bless his heart, but he tries. Now and then, if we're going to hike an area that may be challenging for him, I warn him, "I can't MacGuyver your a$$ out of here."

    Thanks again for your advice!

Those d@mn seed ticks! Yeah, they tore my legs up, but it's a lot better now. I just got back from another trip in OK and no ticks at all this time, so much better. Again, if you have any questions, this is the group to ask, lots of very helpful people around here.

I looked at videos for the Dutchware Chameleon. It's out of stock. Do you happen to know if it's available in a double layer model? Thanks again for your help!

    Welcome Karla!! Enjoy the madness.

Nice to see someone willingly transplanted themselves to Minnesota. I unfortunately am a transplant to Maryland originally from MN.....now i can't wait till my kids are all grown up and i can move back.
When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".

I love Minnesota other than having to deal with Minnesota drivers. There are so many places to hike and kayak here. I don't blame you for wanting to move back.

I love the 'Shug made me do it' tag!

Avoid REI for hammocks. They sell mainly ENO, and Kammok to a lesser extent. While these brands make decent entry level hammocks, once you delve deeper into the hammock world you will quickly crave a cottage vendor hammock, for higher quality, more options, lighter stronger fabrics, etc, etc, etc. I returned both of their hammocks using the generous REI return policy. Stick with any of the cottage vendors. I like all of them, but I went with Dream Hammock for the extreme customization and crazy good customer service. You can view the hammocks they have done on their website along with the finished weights for each of their creations. I thought that was a pretty cool feature that if you see something you like, you can order what you see or tweak it a little to make it yours. Welcome to the addiction! DIY hammocks are also popular and many DIY cottage vendors are out there that can supply you with whatever you need.
