    Calf Ridge

I love my lite owl hammock, however, no matter how I hang it I get a Nasty calf ridge. I have tried tightening it, loosening it, all of Shuggs ideas on his channel and nothing seems to rid this nasty bugger. I am looking for any ideas to help out with this. thank you.

Shug really hit on all the points; I can't think of anything to add. Unfortunately, that may only leave you with trying a different hammock (different length, material, general design).

You can pretty much solve any calf ridge by putting a pillow or small pad under your knee, but I don't like having to do that.

I'm not familiar with this hammock. What is the hammock length? If you've tried raising the footend 6-12" higher than the head and you still encounter this it may just be the design of the hammock.

That is what I was trying to avoid. At least there are a plethora to choose from. Thanks for the feedback.

58"X132". or 68" x 132". It is a wide a long hammock. I will try the raising of the foot side. Thanks for the tip. If it sticks around, I will look into a different hammock.

My shortest hammock at 8.5" has unavoidable calf ridge. I haven't watched all of Shug's videos (gasp!) but find the "figure 4" with my legs always takes care of my discomfort.

1oz ripstop nylon is quite light and stretchy, how heavy are you?
If you are a bigger guy, a stronger material might help.

What is the Figure 4? That like criss cross applesauce.

Yea, I do a lot of powerlifting so I am not small. I am about 220. so maybe it is my body sinking in creating that calf-ridge?

You may be a bit stout for that fabric. I have a Robic 1.2 that I made for ultralight long weekends. That has much more stretch than my normal 1.6oz HyperD that I usually bring along. My kids have HyperD 1.0 hammocks and that feels pretty mushy and I can't get comfortable in them for sleeping. I go around 230. You may, unfortunately, have to go for a heavier fabric.
    Cheers,
