    UQ hooks installed on hammocks

I recently purchased a hammock from Dream Hammock and elected to have UQ hooks option installed. I can't tell that running the UQ support cords through these hooks did anything to improve the contact of the UQ to the hammock. The hooks were located very close to the hammock ends. What's your experience with these hooks?

I'm not sure about Dream Hammocks set up but I sewed Dutch quilt hooks on my BB and they are there to hook up to the triangles on the UQ to keep the shoulder or foot from slipping off in the middle of the night.

For me they aren't very useful on my Chameleon if the under quilt is properly tensioned. I could see them keeping the quilt in place if you squirm a lot.

My Little Shop of Hammocks Warrior hammock came with pack hooks that help to hold the UQ in place. I move alot in my hammock so my UQ's tend to shift but when using the pack hooks, the shifting is very minimal. Have been adding the pack hooks to my other hammocks.

Arrowhead Triangle Thingies also help to keep your UQs in place.

I'm of the opinion that the underquilt suspension is the primary factor in its ability to hug the underside properly. You shouldn't need additional hooks if the suspension is doing its job.

However, the hook points are good for preventing the quilt from slipping sideways off my foot or shoulder.

    +1

The hooks are great for keeping the quilt from slipping off my feet or shoulder at night.

They work great with extra wide fabrics, you may have to put them on a ahot-cord like me on some hammock models. I'm a fan.

Don't you find the clew to be the answer to all of this stuff? I have five shock cords on each end that connect to an aluminum ring. That ring can hook directly to my hammock suspension or a line with tension adjustment.

My quilt never slips, has little to no fiddle factor, has no gaps....no need for clips or triangle thingies or any of that stuff.

Working on my third poncho liner quilt right now (I'm the one that adds the snap in liners). It will have the same clew suspension I've been using. Your idea on this has made all the difference.

    Thanks!!!

Yes a clew suspension is much better than traditional suspension, but there are still other issues at play. On my WBBB the shelf on the right hand side tends to push the quilt down which makes it rotate slowly to the left hand side. This eventually means my toes are not getting covered. A clip would prevent that. It would be the same problem with any type of quilt I put on there.
