    Minifly Test

With the leftover of Irma coming thru North MS today, I think it will be a good afternoon to set up the new Minifly and Traveler to see how well it handles some good rain. Will probably set up the XLC and Superfly for my daughter to hang out with me as well. Mt wife always thinks I'm crazy when I go set up in the rain, just to test something out.

Had a good test run in Irma leftovers yesterday. The Mini-fly worked great! I have it rigged on a CRL run over the tarp. Set the ridge line about head high 1st, so I don't have to hunch over to hang the hammock. After getting the traveler set right I lowered the tarp to about an inch above the hammock ridgeline. I clipped the mini door flaps together and tied them off to the base of each tree with zing-it. Would have been about a 3 hour nap, but, the wife called me because she couldn't find me in the house, and we have rednecks with LOUD A** trucks in our neighborhood. (I'm a redneck with a quiet jeep) Everything stayed dry as a bone. The door flaps really help keep the ends of the hammock dry even if you don't have it perfectly centered. Very happy and very impressed! Thanks Warbonnet! Great products! Love the camo too!!!

Thanks for the review. It really does look like the best reasonably priced tarp on the market for staying dry with blowing rain if you're trying to go light. I love my hex but wish I'd waited 2 weeks for the minifly to come out.

Yes, thanks. So was your rain coming straight down or was it a blowing rain?

It was mostly just a drenching rain. Some wind, but not much. Irma lost a lot of punch by the time she got to north MS. I did leave the hammock and tarp up all night and yesterday. Still completely dry when I took it down last night.

    Did you seal the seams?

No. Per Warbonnet the ridgeline does not need seam sealing, only the panel pulls. And the mini-fly doesn't have panel pulls. I also have a superfly, only seam sealed the panel pulls on it. No leaks on either.
