I have a canoe you can borrow!!!
You can paddle it by your self (you turn it around and sit more towards the middle) or two people can paddle it.
This sounds like a lot of fun, now I can't wait for the weather to warm up some!! The scouts liked the idea of a canoe trip too but if we'all (us adults from hammock forum) go, it's not with the scouts. That way I can pack "adult beverages"
Shrek, what kind of boat do you have??
I'll be in my kayak.
I do have a couple of extra kayaks... and I don't mind lending them out either.

I'm liking this idea... we need to set a date for this Lumber River kayak/canoe trip!
Who's in charge here?

My son attends UNC Pembroke so I've scouted some of the river. You need to pick your section carefully and think twice about where you leave your car overnight. There's a very active "yahoo group" that is constantly doing group trips.
When you finish the Lumber River the ultimate downeast paddle destination is http://www.roanokeriverpartners.org/RiverCamping.htm
CJK, you made it sound like a group of yahoos is breakin' into cars!
RRP is a fascinating endeavor! Thanks!
