You cannot park over night in mckinnely woods. You have to park overnight up at the I&m state park area. It is about a 3 mile walk or bike in from the parking area.
You park at mckinnely woods lot and walk your stuff to the camping site then move your vehicle

I dont need to park all the way by the visitor center do i? can i just park at the first parking lot by the trail? Ride my bike down the 3 miles to the camping spot?

Edit: Glad I asked.. it looks like I was confused with Moose Island. The State park is further north. Glad I double checked this

That is correct. You can just park in the lot right by the trail.

I think you can park one parking lot closer to the hang spot (just south past the bridge) at the canoe drop off. But none of us have been brave enough to risk it to save the 1/4 mile or less of walking from the state park lot.

If you need a bit of help with directions, this might help: Directions to the I&M Hang Spot

I may be interested in this as well. Sounds fun and it's been awhile.

I'm going to have to cancel. Had a school thing pop up on that Saturday. Hopefully when football season is over I'll be able to make a few of the hangs. Have fun.

I have never seen that "Hammock Camping Area" sign in my life after 20+ trips to that site.

I think they put that up at the "back entrance" to the site about a year ago. A bit too much advertising in my opinion.
