    FWIW, I did manage to use carbon Pacerpoles as spreader bars for my RR, in a pinch. I wouldn't do this regularly, but they can work.

    I'm a big fan of the RR (my preferred hammock) but if you are trying to seriously loose weight your best option is to replace the hammock itself with a much, much lighter alternative. Trying to save a gram on a RR is humorous at best but in the grand tradition of HYOH, go for it man.
