+100,000 on hot weather sucking. Every night is a good night for me since I switched over to sleeping in one full time about a year ago. My favorite time is def winter, the colder the better , but fall is nice too. I do sleep out in the summer, but only on the cooler nights with low humidity. But here on the Chesapeake, they are few and far between unfortunately.

Any time the temperature is between 75* and 30*.
Camping? Year round. This includes car-camping with the kiddos in state parks.
Backpacking? Anytime nighttime temps are below 60. That's the only requirement for me.

Really that about covers it. I have had a few trips that were rainy and overcast and they are fine but I like to be out most when the weather is nice. Fall is certainly nice when the weather holds but can't beat a nice warm evening staring up at the stars during the summer.
