$100 for a rain jacket that doesn't even have pockets or drawstrings? And made from non-breathable sil-poly? Clearly I'm missing the appeal

It's extremely light, that's about all it has going for it :<)
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

If you’ve ever had to deal with military grade “wet weather gear,” this jacket seems great.

Anything that’s breathable isn’t truly waterproof, all the DWR rain gear like GoreTex and others are water resistant, but not truly water proof.

Pic your poison: breathable but will eventually soak thru, or practically impervious to rain and vapor.

I'd prefer middle of the road. I wear frog toggs, and they are much more comfortable than a trash bag that would keep the rain off but still end up soaked in sweat. To each their own I suppose.

Agree. Even if you go thru one a set on one trip it’s almost worth it.

In a true downpour, you’re simply going to get wet and there’s no way around it, so embrace the suck. Once you’re in camp, that’s when you get dried off and thrown on the dry camp clothes in your compactor bag.

Ponchos work good keep you dry but let you breathe, especially with just shorts and Gators on.

I see it as more of a wind shirt that does precip better than most marketed as such. But again, breathability is hurting. I may be able to overlook that if it had generous pit zips. But at that point, you could pick up a quality brand, lightweight, breathable jacket with all the features for another 6oz (2/3-way adjustable hood, internal/chest pocket, waist cinch, pit zips, etc). For example, some Outdoor Research jackets for about $60-70.

Or the Montbell Tachyon Anorak (1.9oz pullover) or Wind Parka (4.1oz full zip) would be contenders in the wind shirt area at $89-99.

This is one item I've never had and never really needed, but I'm still interested. Could come in handy on some trips.

Just an update. I have worn the Stash Jacket many many times now and still consider it great. It does have huge pit zips to help breathe. So far it has been completely waterproof.
As far as the lack of drawstring on the hood....Warbonnet has added that to the Stash Jacket.
Very much worth the $100 price. Super light. It pretty much goes anywhere I go now.
