All normal. I think what people forget is that you don't have to string the tarp ridgeline tight and then tighten your pull outs. Instead, reduce tension on your ridgeline and pull then apply tension on your tie outs. This will lower the ridgeline, keeping the ridgeline suspension higher than your hammock suspension. Everything will still have tension. I do this especially when winter camping. It pulls the tarp closer to my hammock and closer to the ground where I bring the snow around to close things up. I care less in the summer when I want a breeze through.
