Not quite what you mean, but today I was sitting in the backyard and a young blue jay scared itself when it landed on an empty plastic jug that was sitting on a trash can. Of course it fell to the ground and the jay flapped off saying "eek!" It then landed on a bench in the yard right next to the hammock and I said "go ahead, try out the hammock!" and danged if it didn't jump into the hammock and hop around a little before it flew off!!!

I can just imagine a tree with tiny little hammocks for the birds... maybe that's what I'll do with all those scraps of ripstop!

Similarly, I am always on the lookout for dead trees and/or widow makers. It's not necessarily hammock specific, but a habit I've gotten into since the kids got really into camping/backpacking with us.

Forklifts at my work [oddly] remind me of hammocking. Probably because I've seen some pics of people hanging hammocks from them.
