    New Hanger dropping in!

Hey everyone! I'm new to the hammock scene and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a former ground dweller from NJ who got introduced/turned on to hanging by hiking buddies who would bring hammocks on our backpacking trips.

Like I'm sure most of you, I love backpacking, but grew tired of being uncomfortable on the ground and decided to make the move into a hammock.

I just purchased Dutch's 1.6 hexon Chameleon hammock last month (my first ever hammock) and am amazed how comfortable I am in it. I have yet to bring it on a backpacking trip, but plan on using it Labor Day weekend when I head up to the Catskills - I just need my underquilt to get here

Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of the forum. There seems to be a wealth of information out there and I look forward to reading some of the posts.

    Happy Trails,

    Danny

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. We have a fairly active group in New Jersey. Check out the trip planning section for group hangs. There's also a Facebook page, NJ Hammock Club, where some people post.

We have some annual events that will show up in the trip planning section a few weeks before the event. Coming up (dates approximate):

    11th Annual Fall MAHHA

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...5-2017-sign-up

    5th Annual Stokes State Forest Hang - 10/20 - 22
    6th Annual Turkey Trek - 11/24-11/26 - Mullica River
Nth Annual Post-Christmas Hang - usually Lower Forge. Sometimes this one happens, sometimes it doesn't.
    11th Annual NJ Winter Hang 1/26 - 1/28 - Batona Camp

We usually canoe the Batsto, Mullica, Wading or Oswego Rivers some time during the spring or fall.

There's also a meetup.com group that goes to mostly Harriman - The Hammock Backpacking Group. I've personally never gone on a meetup.com hang.

Awesome! Looking forward to joining you guys for a hang. I'm actually part of that meet up group (I joined as a ground dweller before I got my hammock), but haven't participated in any of the meet ups yet.
