I know Sawbill has an auger that they use to check the ice depth for ice out in the spring etc. I don't if they would let you use it or set holes for you but might be worth emailing them to see.

Once you're lost in twilight's blue, you don't find your way, the way finds you.
FYI-
I contacted Sawbill and they do not have an auger available.
Dan also mentioned that only hand augers are allowed(no motors)...
I’m glad he mentioned because I didn’t even think about that... and was thinking of using my chainsaw...
So - does anyone plan on bringing an ice auger I could borrow to drill a few holes?

FYI The owner of Sawbill Outfitters is part of the Facebook group and monitors posts on there. She has been very helpful and kind in planning this event.

I am planning on bringing an ice auger.
I've been watching the forecasts and they are all over the board - last week the temps looked to be decent at around 20* for a high and 0-7* for a low... now the temps looks much warmer at 32*/13*
FWIW-I'm looking at www.wunderground.com for Ely but Lutsen and Isablela don't look much different.
How is everyone else feeling about the temps? I'd rather it be much colder than 30*... at 25* and up things get wet/cold fast.
Ditto. I was looking for something like 0° during the day and somewhere near -30° at night. Really wanted to get a proper gear test. Now I can't even stack my quilts without breaking a horrible sweat! What a total gyp!
Oh well. It'll still be a great time
The good news is that this almost certainly means that we really are going to get somewhere near 70 people, with fewer people bailing out of fear, so that's pretty freaking cool, if not almost overwhelming. I'll want to meet everyone, but that's a lot of people to even have a short conversation with!

It will be the "typical Story",,,,,
"You should have been here last week,, it was AWESOME- it was great,,, the fish were jumping into the boat,,, we were giving them away, the weather was perfect,,,,, Just fill in the blank.. Or as I tell my Boy Scouts, fun is where you make it,,,, it isn't camping unless its raining..
Yeah I got a pair of mukluks for the event but if it’s going to be wet I won’t be able to wear them
