    My first Hammock Camping Trip

Well, here goes, my first trip to go out and hang was a complete success. I purchased a BearButt Hammock, Straps, and Rainfly. ( I know it is a cheaper Hammock). I went with my family to the Linville Gorge, and Pisgah National Forest. We spent 3 days, and 3 nights camping. All I can say the hammock is the best thing to happen to a camping trip since invention of the campfire! I have started a fund for myself to upgrade hammock, and rainfly, and UQ. I see what all the hype of hammock camping is all about. I had an absolute blast, the first night was a little cool because of no UQ, but with the help of my cousin, making a DIY UQ out of an old sleeping bag, night number 2 and 3, I slept like a baby. Planning trip number two here in a few weeks, still be in the BearButt, but still going to be hanging!

    Hang in there!

If the hammock is comfortable make your marks in it before upgrading your system. Find what you like and what you're missing in order to make your next set up a blast.

(No shame in using a sleeping bag inside the hammock )

Awesome! I'm going on my first hammock backpacking trip next week. Is there anything you found that you needed that you didn't think to bring?

I hope your next trip is at least equally as awesome

    Congrats.
I always thought about Hammock camping as a scout-(Many Many moons, OK Years ago) but never did it till this year.
I too am hooked and now have a lot of tent equipment that I will not be looking to use much anymore.
    Enjoy the new journey.

Nice job, I personally enjoy it much more than tent camping.

A hat is a very nice accessory for keeping your head above bag/quilt. Especially the Black Rock down beanie for later in the season.

Enjoy mate, Hammocks were a revelation to my camping experiences too, a wool blanket is a welcome addition to my pack, can wear around camp and a bit of top up heat if needed.
