    Tree strap extenders

Hello, I'll be going out west to section hike the JMT for a week and just decided to bring my hammock(since my friend is bringing a tent). Anyway, since the trees can have a greater girth, I need some suggestions on extending my suspension system without damage to the trees. Thanks!

Just get a second set of straps to make up the need and pass the end loop of each one through the other... like chaining rubber bands when you were a kid.
Use a toggle in the eyelet for extra strength/security

Or just make a 2 foot amsteel dogbone to add in case you need the extra length.

If your regular setup is a CL to a Dutch Spider or a Dutch Buckle you can simply insert a whoopie between the CL and the strap and get a LOT of extension. My two whoopies are just a shade over 2 oz. which includes Dutch Biners to make the CL connection.

36" Amsteel dog bones FTW! Depending upon your suspension system, you can insert a dog bone somewhere inline to help you get around bigger trees and/or across longer hang spans...

I live in the Pacific Northwest and I seldom carry tree huggers (for use with whoopies) smaller than 8 feet or tree straps/webbing suspension (for use with buckles/bling) shorter than 12 feet (with 15 feet being more typical).

I know this is an old thread, but . . . how the hell did you get your suspension that far UP on the trees? Unless something is out of scale, they look like they'd be well over 10' up.
