Question Dangers of friction when using Soft shackles?

So I've been looking around the forum without finding the answers to my questions.

First let me tell you a little about my planned setup that I've made but not yet tried.

    Starting from the tree end:
    1) Tree huggers (?) with fixed loops in both ends
    2) Soft shackle through one or both of the tree huggers loops (depending on set up of the tree hugger)
    3) Adjustable end of the whoopie sling (WS) through the soft shackle
    4) Fixed loop of the WS to a continuous loop (CL) with a square knot
    5) CL is fixed to the stock loop at the gathered end of the hammock with a larks head.

    Here is my concern:
As a rock climber I've learned that "soft on soft" combined with heavy loads is a big fat no no. Especially if there is any movement in the system that will cause friction.
A climbing rope pulled through a soft sling will melt through that sling in no time, or at least severely weaken it.

With this in mind, what is your experience of the dangers of friction in a whoopie slings/soft shackle setup as described above?

Would it be better to use a marlin spike on the tree hugger?

I've got some pretty wide tree huggers.. similar to the seat-belts in a car, so I feel it might be too bulky using a marlin spike and that the knot might slip.
So I've been playing around with the idea to "larks head" the soft shackle around a spike, making it similar to the marlin spike and then put the adjustable end of the whoopie sling around it..

    Thoughts? Comments?

Its no issue as dyneema has a very high melting point, also the friction is only really when you are adjusting with no weight in the hammock, when you are swinging there is very little friction. In fact the whoopie sling is using that friction to suspend you.

Gotta take issue with that, sorry Gary!
    MP of UHMwPE = 293°F (145°C)
    MP of Nylon = 374–663°F (190 -350°C)
    MP of polyester = 482°F (295°C)
    Just spreadin' the knowledge.

But it still isn't a thing you should be worrying about. Fabric on fabric is only an issue with moving lines.

    Cheers mate!

I'll do my first hardware-free test hang in about 4 hours.. Really looking forward to it.

Dangers of friction when using Soft shackles?

Loopsage, I doubt you will burn through your suspension. Look at photos of suspensions on Hammock Forums, I think you will see rope to rope and loop to loop connections that are not melting their amsteel.
I would not use a square knot on my suspension unless it was a loop to loop larkshead that can look like a square knot sometimes.
Post pictures and have fun dialing in your suspension.

And FWIW...the "critical" temperature is only 150°F....see page 31.... http://www.samsonrope.com/Documents/...Manual_WEB.pdf

Dangers of friction when using Soft shackles?

Loopsage, I made YouTube videos of several suspensions: Phantom Grappler Hammock Suspension, Carolina Red Hammock Suspension, and Kokomo Hammock and Tarp Suspension. They all worked and my current favorite is Kokomo. No melting of amsteel on these....so far
I did char my amsteel once---see posts below--it was my fault--user error. Oops!

I didnt know that its weird

I was going on melting nylon and poly cord with a flame is easy and melts to a liquid fast, but is very difficult with dyneema weird.

That's because dyneema doesn't melt, it chars. From the 'Rope Users Manual' I linked..."While the term "melting" does not apply to this fiber, it does undergo extreme degradation in these temperatures, and they char."
