    I having been watching the sailing community move to round thimbles for some applications.

    As you know being a climber, when you take a whipper your generating crazy forces. I completely understand your concern, but unless you plan on using you hammock as a trampoline id say you should be safe. No fall factor 2 😎
    For what its worth i use a half rope to suspend my hammock while camping and cordage for prusiks to adjust. No problems at 180lb.
