    The answer is simple then.
    Dont bother with amsteel-which is only a trade name.

    Look for dyneema sk75 or sk78.

    Usually found at a decent boating store or a riggers shop.

    That's true. But amsteel is a little bit easier to splice than other brands dyneema (e. g. Liros or Kanirope). Once you are done I can't see a difference between different brands.

    Looks like I found some 5mm for about CHF 2.20/m, now just to see if they will offer me a discount on buying a 100m spool
