    Superfly doors ?

Why does everyone attach their superfly doors on the outside of the tarp when they're not in use ?

I think they look much better hidden and tucked under from the inside rather the out

Valid point! Never thought to try that. They might catch less wind as well.

I don't like rubbing against it when I move under the tarp so I prefer outside. I don't particularly care what it looks like. I will, however, deploy the doors or pin them inside when it gets really windy.

I connect them outside because I can do it while standing up, instead of hunched over and having to move along side a hammock, bugnet, top quilt and under quilt.

I keep mine attached on the outside in the event I'm setting up in the rain. When I'm hanging the tarp, I don't have to go under to get to the doors, they are right there for me to unhook and pull out to the stake.

Outside for me for four reasons:

    1. If I'm only tying back one end, I use the side pullout loops as an attachment point
    2. As others said, if they're wet I don't want them inside
    3. I feel like putting them inside gives a smooth edge that water can leak around. I'm sure it doesn't but I just get that feeling. Having them folded outside creates a "gutter" for the water to run down outside your dry area.
    4. With the doors outside, they "stick" to the tarp better. This is nice if it's windy so you don't get that kazoo effect (two flaps of silnylon catching wind). Any wind seems to push the doors into the tarp material, sort of creating one wall instead of two. OK I may be reaching there a little

They would definitely catch less wind for sure. Some good valid points though. I will see how I get on and change as I see fit.

I poetically like your idea of rolling them shug, might give this a try

I find that it is easier to slide skins on/off with the doors tucked to the inside. I also like them tucked under for porch mode. That way if it rains, I don't have the insides of the door exposed to the elements; actually the inside is always protected. Like Shug, during Summer season, I usually roll and tie the doors back.

I think it looks better on the inside too, however when I'm using the panel pullouts it pulls the side of the tarp out and The doors tend to droop and I have less room inside that's the reason why I open them to the outside.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...
